Just wondering if anyone has used a fusion engine to make a strictly sniper weapon, and if so what they thought/how it worked. As far as i know it was developed to make a nice HPA sniper set up. I see p*'s alot in regular m4's being used like any other assault rifle, but never as an dedicated sniper. Anyone had experience with a p* sniper set up?

I have a P* DMR built on an M4 body.

500mm Orga, red poppet, red nozzle and AirStock. I keep the FCU tuned to semi and 3rnd burst.

If the FCU disabled burst and I set it up as a pure semi-auto sniper to make use of higher FPS limits for snipers on local fields and put in appropriate weight BB's it would easily outshoot my HPA BASR.

I keep it tuned down since some of the local fields just are not big enough to make a 100ft MED practical.

Thanks!

I'm sewing covers for the 13ci tanks that go on the stock . . . once I have time to stop and pick up the OD fabric, that is. I think it will help improve the lines while also getting rid of the shiny portion of the gun.

Performance has been great so far. 80psi gets me about 9 midcaps out of the little tanks, which is more than sufficient for all but full-day scenario games. Even when I was burst firing the crap out of it at the last event I only used two midcaps max per 45min round.

Pertaining to the OP - I can drop some .43's in to it, bring the output to typical sniper standards (2.8J) and shoot a couple targets at range to give you an idea of P* potential as a dedicated sniper. Might not be today but certainly this week.

I managed to get the P* tuned for sniper weight BB's and get off a few shots.

Pertinent internals:
500mm Orga Magnus 6.23
ProWin chamber
Prometeus purple bucking
Flathop
Red poppet
Red nozzle

At 89psi I was getting 2.79J with a 0.43g BB (374fps, eq to 549fps w/ 0.2g)

With minor tweaks to the hop, I was getting a near flat flight path out to a tree I have marked at 250ft from my shop door. Shots taken at a 55gal drum a bit closer than than tree, I was getting 100% hits (except one flier) with no adjustments to the scope.

With a bit more hop tweaking and zeroing the scope, 250ft would be an active targetable range, if not a bit beyond.

So yes, a P* sniper is more than doable.

Yeah there are several P* DMRs out there. But don't assume that just because its a P*, and it's easy to make it shoot 500+ fps, that it doesn't take as much tinkering and adjustment as an AEG DMR. In fact, I've found that people prefer AEGs for DMRs because they don't have an over voluming issue. All that extra air de stabilizes the BB and makes it less accurate at long range.

Best example is the friend of mine who converted his AEG DMR to a P*. He likes that he no longer has to replace parts... but he has to do more work to achieve the same accuracy of the AEG.

Bingo has done several conversions for rifles that I *assume* are used as DMRs on the field. He'll turn your M14 into a P* no problem. -- Customer Gallery | Bingo Airsoftworks

I found the opposite with my AEG DMR vs my P* DMR.

It has taken almost a year of tweaking to get my AEG to consistently and accurately reach out to 250+ft at 400fps. My P* DMR was reaching out that far and able to consistenly put BB's through a 5.5" hole in a 55gal drum at 200+ft the same day I put it together.

Volume on a P* can be controlled by the poppet dwell. If they are getting too much at a given pressure, perhaps it just needs to be turned down.

The P* community has calculators that take in to account the barrel length and type (widebore vs standard vs tightbore) to calculate the poppet dwell. There is even an iPhone app:
